From the pioneer generation to “firsts” at every level of leadership, Covenant clergywomen have led faithfully across five decades, facing both challenge and receptivity. In the early generation, many women shifted their ordination to more welcoming denominations; others entered into chaplaincy and other parachurch ministry settings after waiting in vain for a pastoral call, often for years. Over the decades, women have grown in both numbers and proportion of the Covenant ministerium and served in key positions of congregational, conference, and denominational leadership. These stories of perseverance in response to God’s call invite our gratitude, lament, and celebration; they challenge us steward the faith of our Covenant cloud of witnesses that call us to increased faithfulness. See the Contribute page to learn how you can strengthen this collective work by sharing the story of a Covenant clergywoman.
